Kia Cadenza: Cooling System / Water Temperature Control Assembly Repair procedures
•
To avoid damage, unplug the wiring connectors carefully while holding the connector portion.
•
Mark all wiring and hoses to avoid misconnection.
Water Temperature Control Assembly
1.
Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
2.
Remove the engine room under cover.
(Refer to Engine And Transaxle Assembly - "Engine Room Under Cover")
3.
Loosen the drain plug and drain the engine coolant.
(Refer to Cooling System - "Coolant")
4.
Remove the air cleaner assembly.
(Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "Air cleaner")
5.
Disconnect the radiator upper hose (A) and lower hose (B).
When installing radiator hoses, install as shown in illustrations.
6.
Disconnect the WTS & gauge unit connector (A).
7.
Separate the engine wiring protector mounted on the water temperature control assembly.
When installing, be sure to install the wiring protector mounting bolts of the original.
If other bolts(longer or larger) has been installed, this can
damage the water temperature control assembly and coolant may be leak.
8.
Disconnect the throttle body coolant hoses (A).
9.
Disconnect the heater hoses (A).
10.
Remove the water temperature control assembly (A).
Tightening torque :
19.6 ~ 23.5 N.m (2.0 ~ 2.4 kgf.m, 14.5 ~ 17.4 lb-ft)
11.
Install in the reverse order of removal.
12.
Fill the radiator with coolant and check for leaks.
(Refer to Cooling System - "Coolant")
•
Refill radiator and reservoir tank with engine coolant.
•
Bleed air from the cooling system.
–
Start engine and let it run until it warms up. (Until the radiator fan operates 3 or 4 times.)

Turn Off the engine. Check the level in the radiator, add
coolant if needed. This will allow trapped air to be removed from the
cooling system.

Put radiator cap on tightly, then run the engine again and check for leaks.
•
Clean the battery posts and cable terminals with sandpaper assemble them, then apply grease to prevent corrosion.
Water Center Pipe
1.
Remove the intake manifold.
(Refer to Intake And Exhaust System - "Intake Manifold")
2.
Remove the water temperature control assembly.
(Refer to Cooling System - "Water Temperature Control Assembly")
3.
Remove the water center pipe (A).
Tightening torque:
9.8 ~ 11.8 N.m (1.0 ~ 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 ~ 8.7 lb-ft)
Do not reuse water pipe O-ring.
4.
Install in the reverse order of removal.
