Description
To sense the cars exactly in the next lane with the radar, the direction of the sensor and the direction of the vehicle have to align.
This is BSD unit alignment. If this alignment is not performed as below illustration, the degradation of detection performance and the cause of false alarms.
The rear bumper accident vehicle and after replacing the BSD unit vehicle have to do this align especially.

1.
The rear bumper accident vehicle and after replacing the BSD unit vehicle have to do BSD unit alignment using GDS.
2.
Select "BSD Radar Calibration" procedure in BSD system.

3.
Perform the "BSD Radar Calibration" procedure according to the GDS screen message.

    Description The used radar frequency of BSD is two, "North America region" and "Except North America region". If it replaces BSD unit, BSD unit has to perform the procedure of variant coding.

    Replacement 1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal. 2. Remove the heater and blower unit.(Refer to HA group – heater unit). 3. Remove the blower unit (A) from the heater unit after loosening a mounting bolt and 3 screws.     Make sure that there is no air leaking out of the blower and duct joints.

    Inspection 1. Measure terminal - to - terminal resistance of blower resistor. 2. If measure resistance isnot within specification, the blower resistor must be replaced. Replacement 1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal. 2. Remove the crash pad lower cover (A) and then disconnect the connector (B).
